Our mission

Put humans back at the center of social media.

Social media stopped feeling social somewhere along the way. Feeds filled with strangers, then with bots, then with content no human ever chose to make. LinkConnect is our reset — a network where the feed is chronological, the people are verified humans, the messages are encrypted, and nothing is engineered to keep you scrolling.

A two-minute look at how LinkConnect works and the decisions behind it.

    Why we're building this

We're the generation that grew up on social media and watched it turn into something we didn't ask for. Public like counts became scoreboards. Follower counts became identity. Algorithms decided which friends we saw and which we quietly forgot. And then generative AI arrived and started producing the content itself — infinite, plausible, and made by nobody.

The strange part is that none of it was necessary. The thing that made social media good in the first place — seeing what the people you care about are actually doing — needs almost none of that machinery. It needs a list of people you chose and a timestamp.

We kept waiting for someone to build that version. Nobody did, because the incentives point the other way: an ad-funded network has to grow attention, and attention is grown by ranking, notifications, and streaks. So we built one with different incentives instead.

    How we got here

    1. The problem

We watched the feeds we grew up on fill with strangers, then bots, then content nobody made. Every app got better at holding attention and worse at being social.

    2. The decision

Rather than build another app with a wellness screen bolted on, we started from constraints: chronological only, no AI content, encrypted by default, no attention economy.

    3. Building

Two years of building the parts people actually use — messaging, video, communities, audio rooms, local events — under those constraints, without loosening them once.

    4. Now

Live on the App Store for iOS, with a public status page and published policies. Android on Google Play is coming soon.

    What we believe

The people you chose should be the people you see.

A feed that reorders your friends by predicted engagement isn't showing you your life — it's showing you a forecast of what will hold your attention. Ours is chronological, following-only, and that's not a setting we can quietly flip.

AI belongs in safety and accessibility. Not in your feed.

No AI writer, no AI images, no synthetic accounts. We use machine learning to detect generated media, spam and abuse, and to offer optional alt-text — never to make something and pass it off as a person's.

Private should mean we can't read it either.

LinkChat is end-to-end encrypted with keys generated and stored on your device. Policies change when incentives do; encryption doesn't.

Wellbeing beats engagement, even when it costs us.

No public like counts, no streaks, no presence indicators, no 'you're being watched' metrics. LinkClips ends with 'You're caught up' instead of an infinite refill.

    Identity is a spectrum.

Personas, Mood Sync, Close Links and an anonymous voice all live on one account, because you're not the same person to your colleagues as you are to your closest five.

    Real people, verified, 18+.

Email and phone verification at signup, continuous bot detection, and an optional Link Seal. A social network is only worth using if there's someone on the other end.

Each of these has enforcement details and an honest tradeoff attached. Read the full commitments →

    What we actually built

A chronological Connect Feed of the people you link with, and a separate Discover tab for finding new ones — kept apart on purpose, so discovery can never creep into your feed.

Around that: LinkChat for end-to-end encrypted messaging, with disappearing messages and flip cards; LinkClips for short human-made video that ends when you're caught up; Link Circles for small communities; Link Wave for live audio rooms; Neighborhood for real events near you; Photo Conversations for replying to a photo with a photo; and Link Cards — a profile format built around personas, moods and pulse words rather than follower counts.

Businesses get their own account type with a public profile, customer messaging, verified reviews, events and local discovery — visually distinct from personal accounts, and never in your feed unless you follow them.

    How we make money

LinkConnect is free for personal accounts at launch. There are no ads in personal feeds, no premium tier that changes what you see, and no subscription required to post, message, or join Circles.

Revenue comes from business accounts: optional promoted events and local area campaigns, clearly labelled and capped at a few cards a day. Promoted content never enters the Connect Feed; it only appears in discovery surfaces where you choose to look.

We don't sell personal data to advertisers, brokers, or partners. We don't build behavioural profiles to monetize, and we don't use engagement-maximizing mechanics or dark patterns to keep you scrolling longer. The product is designed to be put down.

If we ever add optional paid features, they will be additive conveniences — never ways to buy reach, rank above others, or make your personal data valuable to us. We'd rather grow slower on business revenue than fast on your attention.

    Trust & safety

    • • Every account is age-verified 18+ at signup, with email and phone verification.
    • • LinkChat messages are end-to-end encrypted with keys that never leave your device.
    • • Humans make moderation decisions; automation only triages and prioritizes the queue.
    • • Every moderation action is audit-logged, and appeals go to a different reviewer.
    • • Data export any time; deletion with a 90-day grace period, then permanent erasure.
    • • GDPR and US state privacy rights honored, with a 30-day erasure response window.
    • • Published Community Guidelines and AI Policy, plus a live status page.

    The team

LinkConnect is built by a small, independent team of engineers, designers and community folks who missed what social used to feel like. We're deliberately small: fewer people means fewer reasons to chase growth for its own sake, and a shorter distance between a user's complaint and the person who can fix it.

    Where we're going

LinkConnect launches first on iOS and Android — the mobile app is the product. This website exists to introduce it, help you get set up, and hold the legal, support and status resources you need. After launch we'll keep publishing what we ship, what we're learning, and specifically what we've said no to. That last list is the one worth watching.
